My photos are an investigation into representations of (seemingly) concrete thought and situations as well as depictions and ideas that can only be realized in photography. My series is aimed to represent the diversity of majors found at Penn State. With the use of text and black and white images, I am trying to document my friends in their respective majors in the areas in which they normally conduct their work.
By taking daily life as subject matter while commenting on the everyday aesthetic of undergraduate student values. I create work in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found.
The work is distant and methodical and a cool and black and white imagery is used.My work is characterized by the use of individuals in their “natural habitats” based on their major of choice. With the use of black and white I am trying to enhance the detail of each individual with their respective work that deals with the documentation of events.. The work tries to express this with the help of the subjects “natural habitat” relating to their major of choice.
